Celebrating the life of

Mary Angelyn Decker

May 30, 1956 - March 01, 2025

Mary Angelyn Decker

Mary Angelyn Decker passed away, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, kindness, and devotion. Born on May 30, 1956, to Charles E. Decker and Sara Byrd Bart, she grew up in Savannah, Georgia. She attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and graduated from Savannah High School in 1974. She went on to earn a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia before pursuing her true calling in nursing at the Medical College of Georgia, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Mary dedicated most of her career to behavioral health at Memorial Health Hospital, providing compassionate care to those who needed it most. She was intelligent and witty, with a sharp sense of humor and an adventurous spirit. She had a deep appreciation for music and a love of travel, exploring much of Europe, including Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Amsterdam, and many other destinations that enriched her life.

She also had a deep affection for animals and devoted much of her free time to organizations that rescued and cared for them. Though reserved by nature, Mary loved her family deeply and in her own quiet way.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Richard Sellars. She is survived by her sisters, Patricia Catalano and Celeste Decker; her brother, Ashley Bart; her niece, Decker Catalano; her nephew, Harrison Catalano (GiGi Catalano); and her great-nephew, Charles Catalano, and great-niece, Althea Eloise Catalano.

Mary will be remembered for her kind heart, her dedication to others, and the love she shared with those fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed.

I am very sorry to hear of Angie's passing, may she find eternal peace.

- Caroline Sellers, Savannah, GA

I worked with Angie at Tidelands Community Mental Health Center and later at Memorial's psych unit. Of the nurses I've worked with in my career she was one of the most compassionate, skilled psychiatric nurses with the broadest range of experience that I've known. I enjoyed working with her. We went through some things together and she was a good and kind support and coworker. Praying for peace for her family and loved ones during this time of loss.
